PINO 3000 – a gem of a wine
MATURED ON THE SUMMIT OF THE GAISLACHKOGL
Wine is a tradition in Das Central. And our wine event ‘Wein am Berg’ has in the interim enjoyed great renown. It was one of these wonderfully inspired ‘Wein am Berg’ days when the idea to create a new wine came about – this was the origin of the incomparable PINO 3000.
‘Winegrowers, sommeliers and journalists have always said that here at above 3000 metres altitude wine quite simply tastes better’, says Angelika Falkner. Together with Austrian vineyard Paul Achs, South Tyrolean vineyard Kellerei St. Pauls and German vineyard Dr. Heger, in 2011 the foundation stone for PINO 3000 was laid.
Two small oak wine barrels of the best Pinot Noir from each of the three vineyards were to be brought together in South Tyrol – and then matured here in wooden barrels in Sölden, on the summit of the Gaislachkogl, at 3,048 metres altitude.
This is where PINO 3000 matured
A specifically built wine cellar on the Gaislachkogl Breath-taking. Expansive. Regal. The panorama at the summit of the Gaislachkogl. 3048 metres above the humdrum – that’s where PINO 3000 matures, in its own specific wine cellar – and it is here that all of its uniqueness unfurls.
PINO 3000 & the wine-growers
THE BEST WINE GROWERS FROM THREE COUNTRIES
From Austria Weingut Paul Achs
22 hectares. The finest red varieties. One perfect Pinot Noir. In the renowned winegrowing estate of Paul Achs an exacting wine results, using grapes grown on the best chalky soil; a wine which is a credit to the grower. Well-known for its exquisite pinot noir qualities, Paul Achs is a great in his metier – and it is this that makes a fundamental contribution to the special character of PINO 3000.
From Germany Weingut Dr. Heger
Its name is synonymous with top-flight premium wines from outstanding locations. At Ihringer Winklerberg and Achkarrer Schlossberg exclusive, top-quality wines from Germany flourish. Gault Millau and Eichelmann awarded the services provided by winegrower Joachim Heger with the title, ‘Winegrower of the year 2013’. With his flair and expertise he fundamentally enhances the facets of PINO 3000.
From Italy Kellerei St. Pauls
In 1907 in St. Pauls set up in a picturesque idyll, the wine cellar bearing the same name was formed, today it enjoys an excellent reputation. In the protection of the Alps, over 1800 hours of sunshine, warm days and cool nights provides a maturation time which yields a wide range of high-quality, fully ripe estate bottled wines which characterise PINO 3000. Winemaker Wolfgang Tratter is responsible for wine maturing too.

FACTS & STORIES ABOUT PINO 3000
PINO 3000
Stored at 3,048m altitude
We sought to create a unique pleasure. An unpretentious, distinctive aroma. A wine which can be stored for a long time. And the summit of the Gaislachkogl, in the heart of ice Q, is the perfect place for it. In a purpose- built wine cellar, Pino 3000 matures in even, cool temperatures. Unaffected by the seasons more fruitiness and freshness can develop. The modified oxygen content and the lower air pressure play a part in the aromas in the glass coming into their own. PINO 3000 REAPS RICH ACCLAIM
Falstaff & Vinum Two assessments. One opinion - OUTSTANDING
Peter Moser from Falstaff magazine had great things to say about this exceptional wine. He noted the ‘fresh structure, full of finesse’, the ‘stable maturation potential’. Named it as a ‘multi-faceted meal accompaniment’ and gave it 93 out of 100 points. In contrast, Vinum editor-in-chief Stephan Reinhart said it was an ‘ideal-typical Pinot’, praising the bouquet and wrote, ‘On the tongue too the wine has the attributes of a model Pinot… with impressive elegance and drinkability.’
